Aims of Terror: In today’s era, Terrorism
is the biggest threat to mankind. Terrorism aims at destruction of people, property and peace and threatens and instills fear
and insecurity among citizens in their day to day routines and therefore disrupt the peace, economy and normal functioning
of the Nation.
Recent Events: India has seen repeated
Bomb blasts killing countless citizens. We have also seen Sporadic Shootouts in Info tech conglomerates (Bangalore), Akshardham (Gujrat). The Mumbai Taj-Oberoi-Nariman
House terror, has brought Hostage situations to surface. Aircraft Hijacking have become commonplace.
Soft Terror Targets: In the coming years, all
metros will see Terrorism in Malls, Shopping Arcades, Cinema Theatres, Stage Performances, Sports Events, Corporate Offices,
Public Transport Facilities, Tourist Spots, Markets, Schools, Colleges, Prominent Streets, etc.
Terror is here to stay.There will be Bomb blasts,
Random Shootings, Seize & Hold-ups of City locations, Hostage Crises and Hostage Negotiation and Exchange Demands. The
citizens of India feel totally helpless like animals on sacrificial alter, praying that the next terror incident will not
involve us, or any of our kith and kin.
Metro Adversities: There are also day to day
Muggings & Robberies, Extortions, Street Violence, Road Rage, Traffic Brawls, Mob fury, which threaten us moment to moment.
Women and Children face the threat of Eve Teasing &
Molestation, Broad daylight Rapes, Boyfriend fury & Acid Attacks
Disasters like Fires, Building collapses, Rain water floods,
Traffic accidents, Train derailments, Aircraft incidents and other adversities have also become common, affecting the common
man.
OBJECTIVE
Is there anything that can be done? YES! We can
prepare ourselves to understand / perceive the threats and develop survival responses.
For this we need to acquire the following attributes

1) Awareness of Trouble in day to day life – Risks, Adversity, Disaster & Terror
2) Understand Risk & learn Threat Perception
3) Form day to day Protocols & rules of discipline for Threat Prevention
4) Ability to Analyse Threat real time, when it is actually happening
5) Consider various Threat responses and decide on Appropriate Reaction
6) Team Work skills and helping Civil Authorities.
